Temper! Temper! was the second band that I set up in about 1987. Paul Whitehouse also joined me from Capital Queue, alongside new recruit Kingsley Gratrick on guitar. Kingsley’s Johnny Marr inspired playing and Smiths/New Order style compositions influenced our new material. I was co-writing for the first time and it worked really well. I weaved pop-sensibility into Kingsley’s indie guitar and Roland 909 drum tracks.
We gigged across the country and I set up my own label (Sheer Bravado! Music) to release a single and an EP (yes, on vinyl!). Things got complicated when we encountered a duo who wanted to use the same name but we remain the first and the best Temper Temper! Let me know what you think!
